CARING FOR NATURE

YACWAG's aims are to create and maintain nature reserves locally and to raise interest in nature. We are concerned about the decline in numbers of many different species. We want to improve biodiversity locally - that is, we want to do our bit for wildlife - so we can all see more wild flowers, birds and animals in and around Yatton and Congresbury. It's all part of the "Think Globally, Act Locally" idea which is at the heart of Local Agenda 21 (plans put forward to improve living conditions for everyone in the 21st century). If you care about wildlife too, please join us.

CARING FOR PEOPLE

We arrange guided walks throughout the year on our reserves and hold public meetings to inform local people about the wildlife on them. By arrangement, access to our reserves for purposes of education, scientific research, surveying and monitoring is possible within the constraints of our Reserves Access Policy.

We also organise work-parties for local people and have a special link with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme. Members can gain knowledge, experience and skills in practical work.
